Austin African American Book Fest

In June 2024, I participated in the Austin African American Book Festival at the George Washington Carver Library and Museum. This was my first book event as an author.

And Nikki Giovanni was there!πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ She was AMAZING!

I had a wonderful time. I can’t wait to do it again next year!

πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰And just a side note: If you can, all authors should consider doing a live event. It gives you a different perspective on you and your writing. We all are fighting in this Social Media lens of our books: sometimes low engagement, how can I get attention, my book must not be good enough, therefore, I must not be good enough! We know it can be vicious!

But watching real people pick up your books, feel them, look at the covers, read your synopsis, and say, “Hey. I will take a chance on this,” warms your heart ❀️ and gives you a confidence boost! You didn’t do everything all wrong. There are people who think you and your work are worth taking a chance on. It helps. And while every day can’t be like that, it is important to find ways to have SOME days be like that.πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰
